Itinerary
From Reykjavík into the Golden Circle and the highlands
Your day starts at our base in Reykjavík, where you meet your guide, gear up and receive a short safety briefing before heading out. From there, the route takes you onto gravel tracks and scenic back-country roads, passing Hafravatn, Skammidalur and Mosfellsdalur as the landscape gradually opens up into a more rugged and adventurous ride.
Stop 1
Þingvellir National Park
Þingvellir is one of Iceland’s most important historic and natural landmarks. It is home to the Alþingi, founded in the year 930, and is also where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates pull apart. This stop adds both history and dramatic scenery to the day, giving the tour a strong Golden Circle anchor.
After Þingvellir, the route becomes even more adventurous. The farmland begins to fade behind you as the buggy ride continues into rougher terrain, with wide-open views, sandy trails and a stronger sense of being out in the Icelandic wilderness.
Stop 2
Gullfoss waterfall
Gullfoss, the famous Golden Waterfall, is one of Iceland’s most powerful and iconic natural sights. Fed by the Hvítá river from Langjökull glacier, it crashes into a deep canyon and creates one of the most impressive waterfall views in the country. Arriving here as part of a buggy adventure makes the stop feel even more rewarding.
Stop 3
Geysir geothermal area
The geothermal area at Geysir is one of the highlights of the Golden Circle. While the Great Geysir itself erupts only occasionally, nearby Strokkur erupts every few minutes and sends hot water high into the air. Steam, bubbling hot springs and the raw geothermal energy of the area make this a dramatic final major sightseeing stop.
The ride itself
More than a sightseeing tour
This experience is not just about the stops. The buggy route itself is a big part of what makes the day special, with gravel roads, river-side tracks, mountain views and remote sections that most standard Golden Circle tours never reach. It is a more active, adventurous and memorable way to experience Iceland’s most famous sightseeing route.
